Logline: Search, locate, investigate, and
pick families struggling to make
ends meet and on the brink of homelessness due to no fault of their own; with
the intent to offer them a Second Chance
by providing them food, shelter and support to get back on their feet within
few months.
Synopsis:
Many hard working families are
faced with the misfortune of being on the verge of eviction from their homes
due to the loss of a job without fault of their own, either because of economic
conditions in the country, advancement in technology or simply an employer’s
business decision for some reason or another.
Situation: Many
of these unfortunate families do not have the luxury of having the six to nine
month reserve accounts to survive this type of a situation. When their
unemployment benefits also run out they are faced with the real dilemma and
possibility of losing their home and becoming homeless.
Purpose: The
purpose of this show is to help a few selected families, at a time, who pass
the test and accept the terms and conditions the show offers to them. During which time the show provides ways and
means for these families to cope with their situation, improve their chances by
learning new trades or improving on their knowledge of their trades. Helping
them, these families, by teaching them how to complete their resumes and
showing them more successful ways of looking for a job and finding it.
Applicants: Applicants
could come from a variety of sources: Churches, religious institutions,
community centers, unemployment offices and direct applicants.
Location: A
gated- secured multi-unit apartment building capable of housing these families.
The building is to be Equipped with cameras and security guard(s) to enforce
the terms of the lease. It should also
be provided with computers and internet access.
Selection Process:
once
applications have been received, they are reviewed and an investigation begins
in real life with cameras rolling. The applicants then are investigated, a
background check is conducted on each applicant, and family members are tested
for drugs and alcohol before being accepted. Once they are potential candidates
they are presented by the rules and disclosures of participation in the
program. Once those are accepted and signed by applicants, the audience is
asked to participate in choosing the family(ies) to be given the second chance.
Audience
Participation: Audience is invited to participate in voting which
families, or family to be accepted. Management taking the audience vote in
consideration announces the decision and the names of the participant family
(ies).
Audience will
continue participating throughout the series by offering suggestions, opinions,
possible referrals for jobs, ideas how to improve the family’s status or
chances. Audience participation is encouraged by phone, text, social media
(Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
Rules:
1.
A completed application by the family or a
referral from a religious organization, Community or unemployment office
2.
Family should be free of all drugs and alcohol
including nicotine
3.
none of the family members may have any criminal
record
4.
family must provide proof of due diligence in
their search for a job in the past several months
5.
family must prove they have less than two month
reserves to survive their current situation
6.
All family members who will occupy the unit in
the building must agree to abide by the rules of occupying a unit in the
building. These rules are: there will be no drug use, no smoking, no alcohol on
the premises, and no watching porn on units’ computers.
7.
A midnight curfew to enter or exit the building
unless a family member has found employment which includes a night shift beyond
midnight.
8.
Visitors are allowed, however applicant is
responsible for their behavior. Visitors must respect applicants enrollment
rules
9.
Applicants must agree to share in the chores of
maintaining the building as clean as possible, shopping for food and distribution
to the families in the building.
10.
Any fraudulent activity, when and if proven, to
be grounds for immediate dismissal from building, with the obligation of
reimbursing all expenses the show has spent in the process.
11.
The show
will evaluate the family’s situation, knowledge, expertise, education, and
possibilities of finding a job. Help in training, guiding, connecting to the
right people to assist in finding a job.
12.
The show will welcome companies offering jobs
for the families the show sponsors.
13.
The security and the cleanliness of the building
are of extreme importance.
Show Progress: The
show is a reality series displaying the progress each and every family enjoying
from the day given the Second Chance
to finish, and the show continues as the families move on to their new found
lives, and they are replaced by new families going through similar situations.
However, there are no two families alike, whether in their composition,
specialties, circumstances, job s, choices they have made, fields they have
pursued, etc. which is reason for a constant supply of new candidates with a
variety of situations for the show to go on for a very long time.

What will the creator of the show and the show itself achieve?
The
creator of this show has always wanted and dreamt about helping deserving
families stricken by misfortune, without a fault of their own, to have a Second Chance. This show may be the
channel, the venue if you like, to make that dream a reality.
